BOX Academy Ch07: The Past of Queen

I tried to emulate the feel of a Japanese light novel illustration. Here we see Nelly's past. She was a different student back then. New to BOX Academy, and with people knowing she's the daughter of a champion, she was alone. Until she met a student who was the same new batch as her. The short girl called herself as Shorts for obvious reason and she was fine by it. They became instant friends. They would spar together and Nelly would best Shorts. Shorts didn't mind. She was glad that Nelly was building confidence.

Here's an excerpt of the chapter:

Inside the small boxing, ring Shorts growled and crossed her arms as she stopped a strong right cross from hitting her in the face. Shorts then swung a sharp right hook. Nelly reacted to it and dropped her left arm and stopped the body punch with her elbow.

Both sweaty female boxers swung at each other with impressive speed. Every punch that was thrown was either blocked or dodge by the other. Both women seemed evenly matched.

In the middle of the ring, both Shorts and Nelly took a step back after their intense exchange. Both kept their gloves up glaring at each other. They were breathing heavily with sweat forming and dripping off their faces.

Shorts then moved her legs and shot forward first with impressive speed. Nelly’s eyes grew in surprised how fast Shorts closed in on her. When she was close enough Shorts swung a right cross that flashed at Nelly’s head. In a flash Shorts, head jerked over her shoulder as Nelly’s right cross landed first. “PISH!” Shorts eyes grew in horror as a puff of sweat flew off her face.

Shorts vision shook violently she took a step back, but there was no strength in her legs and she fell on her bottom looking up at Nelly with a confused look in her dim eyes. Nelly dropped her gloves and sighed in relief as she looked down at her shorter sparring partner. A couple seconds past and she shook her head to clear away the fog. She then saw Nelly looking down at her.

“Huh what?” Shorts blinked at her.

“You okay?” Nelly asked with concern.

“Uuuuhh ye… Yeah.” Shorts then started to laugh out loud. “Damn that was a great counter, Nelly. You timed that perfectly. I didn’t even see it coming.” She chuckled again. “You’ve gotten pretty good.”

Nelly smiled warmly back at her. “Thank you so much. You almost had me that time. Want to keep going?”

Shorts frowned but smiled with confidence. “Hell yeah. Let’s go.”
